Wow I never saw this one coming! A few weeks ago we reported on a “Zack Slow” and his attempt to raise funds for a date with Lady Sovereign, at the time I thought the idea was laughable at best and tried my best not to come across as insulting but exactly 1 month after starting his fund raising effort he had recieved $10,000 in donations from visitors to his site.
Then his dream came true when Lady Sovereign arrived at his doorstep and the two of them went out on a date, apparently Sovereign’s manager contacted Zack and set the date up and the two managed to blow the $10,000 on a limo ride and a yacht stocked full of alcohol.
“It was definitely one of the most fun nights I’ve ever had,” Slow wrote in his online journal. “I feel really lucky to have been able to do this.”

Came across a very disturbing peice of news today.. Im not sure if Jay-Z simply had a case of buyers regret but not only has Lady Sovereign’s album release date been moved twice in the last few weeks but now Def Jam is reporting that her single “Love Me Or Hate Me” that had a brief play on the radio will now be a download only song ???
To add insult to injury it will only be downloadable to US customers of Verizon Wireless, though its obvious verizon is a Lady Sovereign fan since they are using the song to promote their latest cell phone model.

Up and coming artist Lady Sovereign has finally decided she has taken a long enough break from saving the hoodie trend and being caught dating her fans to finish her first full-length album release.
The release is titled “Public Warning” and is set to hit stores on Oct 3rd and is being distributed by Def Jam records with 12 original tracks by Lady Sovereign herself.
Last year the rumour was that her first LP would be called “Straight Up Cheeky,” but in a recent interview Lady Sovereign claimed she made up the title as a joke.
“People kept asking me, ‘What are you gonna call your album?’” she said. “I didn’t know at the time, so I was just like, ‘Uhhh… Straight Up Cheeky,’ so people began to get that impression.”
“Love Me Or Hate Me,” Public Warning’s first single, hits radio next month. Lady Sovereign will perform on September 3 at Montreal’s Osheaga Festival.

Im sure your all as eager to hear Lady Sovereign’s reported new album as we are and today we have some excellent news!
Apparently the release date for us North American fans is now a little earlier then we were previously led to believe, originally it was pegged with an Oct 10th release however word on the street is the date has been moved up to Oct 3rd (Yay!!!)
As most of you probably know the first single to get radio airplay was “Love Me Or Hate Me” which has been playing since August 7th and definately giving her new release some serious traction with those who have never heard her work.
I can hardly wait!!!!!

Some of fans can be pretty obsessed, next month Lady Sovereign has a show in downtown San Francisco and one local fan ha come up with a wacko but creative way to meet the lady herself!
Zach Slow is the fans name and he’s going crazy over the upcoming concert, so excited he launched a website to get donations to help pay for a date with the singing sensation after the concert.
“The idea is that I really want to meet and party with Lady Sovereign after she performs in my hometown of San Francisco on June 9th, 2006,” Slow writes in the site’s FAQs. “I want you guys to decide what we do on our night out together—so to make the night more fun, I’ll only be spending money on her that you guys donate to this project.”
Slow says he’s “older than Lady Sovereign, but younger than M.I.A…around the same age as Kris Kross”—claims he is not a stalker and explains, “I don’t want to date her. As a matter of fact I’ve never been good at relationships. This is just strictly partying for 6 or so hours and having a great time.”

While the video quality is kinda poor their aren’t many interview tapes floating around the web for Lady Sovereign and the quality of the interview definately makes up for any short coming with the video.. I have to say I love her accent more and more everytime I hear her talk!
Anyways enough gushing its a good interview and the good folks at youtube are hosting it so check it out you won’t be disappointed
